Annie Mawson MBE

Annie Mawson MBE founded Sunbeams Music Trust in 1992 after witnessing first-hand how music was a powerful tool of self-transformation for children with severe language deprivation. Thus inspired, Annie devoted her life to harnessing the healing power of music to disadvantaged people of all ages.

A professional harpist and musician, Annie developed the Music for Life® and Music for Dignity® programmes, creating innovative approaches to community music therapy that have touched thousands of lives across Cumbria.

In recognition of her outstanding contribution to music therapy and the community, Annie was awarded an MBE. The purpose-built Sunbeams Music Centre in Penrith stands as a testament to her vision and dedication.
