Sunbeams Charity Shop
29th August 2012
The Sunbeams Charity shop in Halesowen is now at 41 Queen’s Way, and the old shop will house all the furniture.
The shop recently went overboard for the Olympics in a bid to give shoppers the sporting bug.
Our empire is expanding!
Katie Bennett is really one of Sunbeams unsung heroes. Since opening the Sunbeams Charity shop in Halesowen in 2009, she has managed to expand up the high street, and now has a furniture shop to boot!
Huge thanks goes out to Katie and her team for all they do for Sunbeams
They also sometimes get mentioned in the Halesowen News…
The High Street shop has already caused a stir with its eye-catching front window nativity scene made up of soft toys, shop mannequins and alternative gold, frankincense and myrrh.
There is going to be a half price sale in December and staff have been busy wrapping presents for a lucky dip to be held in the week before Christmas.
Founder of the shop Katie Bennett said: “We are really gearing up for Christmas at the shop and had a lot of fun setting up our nativity scene with all the weird and wonderful things we have in the shop.
“If anyone out there has anything they can give us in the run up to Christmas we would be really grateful because we are giving away presents in the week before Christmas.”
The Sunbeams Music Charity helps autistic children and sufferers of Parkinsons and Alzheimer's through music and sensory therapy. And Halesowen is the charity’s only shop.
Katie, who also works as a nurse with autistic people, added: “We are also having a 50 per cent sale in the run up to Christmas as we know times are hard for a lot of people at the moment.
“Sunbeams in Halesowen is all about raising cash with a smile on our faces and some days it feels like a social club in here.”
Katie, who also works as a nurse with autistic people as well, added: “Shoppers have been coming in every day to look at our very own William and Kate and they all love them.
“I’ve got a wonderful team here and we all enjoyed setting up our very own fairytale wedding.”
She added: “It is a bit of fun but everyone likes a good wedding and the shoppers of Halesowen are no different.”
Katie and her team are always grateful for clothes and other goods as well as volunteers. For all our supporters in the Midlands - phone Katie on 0121 550 5503 for more information!
